Maricopa County Community College Board -At Large

for Affordable, Excellent Education

Maricopa Community Colleges are a vital part of our neighborhoods, an affordable place to earn a higher education, and a pipeline to the workforce.  Today, students of all ages and backgrounds earn fast-track workplace certification in everything from IT to the trades, finish high school equivalency, and now can even earn 4-year bachelor’s degrees in business, education, and other fields. Many of our students do all of that while also raising a family and/or working a job, attending day, evening, and online classes on a schedule that works for them.

As the largest community college system in the nation, our Colleges serve more Arizona residents than any other college or university.

We all thrive when we support our community colleges. Students get the training for good-paying jobs, employers get the workforce they need, and our economy benefits when everyone is contributing.

It would now be my honor to serve on the Maricopa County Community College Board.

Maricopa Community Colleges are in my blood

  • My mom graduated from Phoenix College after our family first moved to the Valley in 1958

  • My dad, a lifelong Career & Technical education leader, taught me that Maricopa County had the best community colleges in the nation

  • I’ve attended Glendale, Mesa, Rio Salado, and Paradise Valley Community Colleges and then earned my Associate's degree from Arizona Western College. A grand tour.

  • As a high school teacher for 27 years, I encouraged my students to continue their education at our local community college.

4 Priorites - How We’ll Secure Maricopa’s Future

  1. Focus on maintaining affordability and access for students’ of all ages and career levels

  2. Ensure our colleges are keeping up with the needs of our rapidly changing workforce and economy.

  3. Forge new partnerships with employers to strengthen the education to high-wage job path for our students

  4. Support a professional faculty that is on the front line of the education and training students for the workforce of today.
